Tomorrow night is definitely going to be one for the books and quite possibly one of the best line ups the city of roses has to offer. Don’t worry if you’re a little behind, we’re here to fill you in! The newly formed Portland record label Eyrst has been on fire as of late with all kinds of new music from their camp. The label is a collective of creatively unique artists (rappers) that you may already be familiar with. Their roster includes Martell Webster, Neill Von Tally, Blossom, Myke Bogan, The Last Artful, Dodgr, ePP, Maze Koroma, Ripley Snell, and Calvin Valentine. Each artist brings their own piece of individualism mixed with a crazy amount of chemistry amongst them all. I’ve had the opportunity to get to know all of them in different ways over the last year and I can honestly say this IS what Portland Hip Hop has been missing. In the past, the town has always been competitive at the necks of their own while seemingly creating cliche slogans such as “Supportland” or other minuscule terms along the way. All of that is in the past where it belongs. Eyrst is here to change that, proving to everyone in the north west that passion and hard work speaks louder than words.
Tomorrow night Eyrst will be celebrating their one year anniversary along with the release of Martell Webster’s EP at The Evergreen in Southeast Portland. Performances include The Last Artful, Dodgr, Blossom, Martell Webster, Maze Koroma, Ripley Snell, Calvin Valentine & ePP with DJ Nature on the one’s and two’s. Word has it that legendary Producer Jake One might even be in the building. There will be customized merchandize available provided by ‘By The Collective‘ as well as a food drive which will benefit the Portland Homeless Family Solutions Organization.
So if you didn’t know before, you should be all caught up by now. There is absolutely NO reason to miss this event! In the mean time get caught up with Martell’s latest single, “Told ‘Em” (featured below) off his new EP which drops tomorrow.
