It’s all about making history.

As you know, KPSU and We Out Here Magazine have been working together since December to bring you The THESIS, a monthly hip-hop event at Kelly’s Olympian featuring fresh NW artists and a cool party vibe every first Thursday. This time around though we’ve done something extra special, pushing the party to Friday and having it on the Portland Spirit… yes, we are partying on a boat!

Titled Fly-By-Night, this very special installment of The Thesis features two of Portland’s hottest rappers in Myke Bogan and Tope, but the fun doesn’t stop there. The lovely and popular Blossom will be providing a soulful and fun performance (just wait for it), and Stewart Villain is also scheduled to warm it up with a beat set. Resident DJ Verbz will be spinning per usual, plus he’ll get a hand from the infamous H0T 16 so bring your dancing shoes. With 3 levels, 2 bars, 1 stage, too many bottles of champagne and the full Portland Spirit menu available, this is without doubt shaping up to be the Hip-Hop event of the Spring. When is the last time you saw rappers on a boat? This is your chance to really let loose, and it’s a WOHM event so you won’t have to worry about any drama.

So what is this historic party this going to cost you? Just 15 bucks… or you can assemble your crew and get 5 tickets for $60 ($12 each). PSU students are always $12, but everyone needs to be 21+ (‘cause there will be much dranking). You should get tickets HERE while supplies last; if we don’t sell out there will be tickets available at the dock, but I wouldn’t wait. There are also table packages available but they are VERY limited so get in touch with myself or Janessa as soon as possible if you’re interested.

Fly By NightWe are also re-launching our event calendar on WeOutHere.net so that you can keep up with events that we’re involved in and/or support. We want people to know where to find good music and good vibes, plus the WOHM Team is tired of being asked when the next party is. You’ll find info on the boat party on there as well as tours swinging through the region such as the Pete Rock/Slum Village/HANiF tour – which stops in Portland tonight. (HINT: You should ask about the after party we’re throwing with V1.) If you have events you would like added to the calendar, please email info to submit@weouthere.net.

But again, consider the gravity of this boat party. Last year they were shutting down rap shows in jazz bars… Just imagine the work required to get us to this point. So put your little change together, put your little ‘fit together and let’s ALL celebrate the rising success of the Portland rap scene… #OnAFuckingBoat.
