If you learn anything from this watching today’s installment of Freshest In The NW, it will be that I am a Gifted Gab fan. The Seattle rapper has exceeded expectations while continuing to show potential and promise, dropping her album Girl Rap and maintaining her image as the girl next door who ain’t thinking about you, all while being covered by pretty much every major outlet from the Seattle Times to Time Magazine. Shoot… I’m listening to Girl Rap right now.

Q Dot praised her bars, while Darryl praised her image and grind. I declared Gabby underrated – a nod to her potential given her accomplishments – and waved off the comparisons to Queen Latifah, a statement that brought the OG Luvva J to school me one time.

Gabby’s placement on the list was easily validated by the panel; but naturally, the conversation got sticky when it came to deciding whether King Nacho should be moved up over the First Lady. Discussions of who’s the best in Moor Gang were reduced to a raucous blur of personal opinions but at one point, we all agreed that Jarv D is an amazing lyricist. I unabashedly proclaimed Gabby as my favorite bar-for-bar lyricist in the clique.

Does the panel agree with me? Check it out and see.
