You know, the NorthWest is home to some really beautiful women. I’ve had many conversations with out of towners and they always talk about how the number of good looking women in our region is surprising. And since We Out Here is about sharing the NorthWest with others, of course the beautiful women are included.

This week I got a chance to chat with one of the town’s finest. Sky Briggs is definitely a girl who doesn’t go unnoticed. And well, we noticed her and decided to share what she had to say with all of you….

Is Sky your real name or just a stage name? Either way, I love it.

Sky is my real name but it’s really my middle name. All the people in my family go by their middle names. It’s weird, I know. I don’t know why, but we just do.

It’s not that weird. Sharde is also my middle name. The world may never know my first. And your name fits you well. It matches your look which is quite unique and somewhat exotic. What is your nationality, by the way?

I’m Jamaican, Irish and Indian

So you have a little spice to you, which explains the hair. You change your style up so much. From red to blonde, short to long, curly to straight, why the changes?

I don’t know why I change my hair so much. I guess it really just depends on how I’m feeling at the time. Some people change their hair for seasons; some people change their hair when they’re starting a new chapter in their life. I guess I just do it when I get bored. Every time I change my hairstyle I find a little side of me that never existed and it’s kinda fun.

Fair enough. That diverse look definitely helps you stand out in the modeling world. We’ve seen your work in print, music videos and on runways, what’s your favorite kind of modeling?

That’s a hard one. I really can’t say. I like music videos ‘cause you get to interact with the artist, hear their music, and it’s really fun to just feel the vibe of the song and do your thing. With runway modeling it’s a little bit nerve-racking you never want to fall. LOL But it feels great to walk down the runway and have eyes on you. And you get to work for amazing designers! For photo shoots I like that I can transform into a completely different person. It’s amazing what hair & make up ideas people come up with and how it all comes together in the end. But if I had to choose, it’d probably be photo shoots.

Modeling aside, you’re not just a pretty face with a hot body. You’re also a very talented singer and songwriter. What projects are you working on in that realm?

Right now I’m working on my LP which will hopefully drop mid-winter. I’m really excited about this project. I went through a lot in the past year so these songs will let you see into my life a little bit. The album over all just explains who I am and what I stand for.

I also have a few new modeling shoots coming up that I’m very excited about! The concepts are crazy and definitely fit my personality.

329013_416440971736902_547010735_oWe’re excited to see your work as well. You’ve done a lot of work with some talented local artists. Who are some of your favorites to work with?

I loved working with Chill Crew. Those are my guys. I’ve known Jon Belz for over 5 years now and Jesse PC since I was four years old, so it’s always fun to work with them. Also Majestic was pretty fun to work with. I did a few songs on his last album and his genre of music is more reggae so I felt right at home with his music!!! I adore Tiffany Mall. We’ve done a few songs together and writing with her is always a good time!!! When it comes to modeling I’ve worked with Paul Garcia, Ramses Abdallah, Adrian Adel, and Nehemiah Booker just to name a few. They’re all so talented in their own ways and great photographers! I also do regular shoots with Hip Hop Junkies. I love doing shoots with them, it’s always chill!

Who would you like to work with in the future?

As of right now I’m branching out, so a lot of the people I’m working with in the future are out of my city. But I do have an upcoming shoot with Valentino Lucas who is a male model doing his thing right now. I can’t wait to work with him and see how these photos come out!

Most people wouldn’t know it by looking at you, but you’re a mama. How do you balance raising your daughter and working in the industry?

I love my daughter more than life itself and try to be the best mother I can to her! I definitely love spending time with her and try to make the time count! When I’m not with her I have a wonderful support system around me and I’d be nothing without them. At the end of the day I do all this for her which helps me stay on my grind. It can all be a little hard sometimes but I do what I can when I can whenever I can for my loved ones and that’s what matters to me!

photo 1Talented, beautiful and caring, you can see why WOHM loves Sky Briggs. Thanks for taking the time to share with us.
