Great video man! I remember seeing tweets when you were filming. The turnaround seemed super quick. What was the process like from start to finish?

Well, I was on tour in September with Louis Logic and Open Mike Eagle.  Ryan Lewis called while I was in California and asked me if I’d ever heard of an artist named Sir Raven Bowie (of course I had) and asked if I’d like to shoot a video for him.  I’ve known Ryan since like 2006 and have always wanted to collaborate with him on a project.  I’d also casually spoken with Ben (Macklemore) a few times in the past about working together.  So yeah, I didn’t hesitate to say yes!  The only catch was that they wanted to start filming on October 7th and wanted to have a final video on the internet by Halloween.  At first this seemed crazy…  I didn’t get home from tour until October 1st.  The day after I got home, we had our first meeting.

About 5 minutes into the meeting I was no longer worried.  These guys are so professional and energetic.  Working with them feels like you’re working with a very supportive family.  We planned all week and started shooting that Friday.

Shooting was intense, but extremely fun. We worked long hours and got very little sleep.  They went on tour mid-October and I put together a rough cut while they were gone.  When they got back, we locked ourselves in their studio from Thursday the 27th until the following Monday—which was Halloween.  There’s no shower at their studio so shit got real!  It was a lot of fun though.

Not a lot of videos have horses, spandex, and rappers doing dance routines. What were some of your favorite elements in the video?

My favorite elements were everything you mentioned.  I love being original, creative, and weird. Luckily, they were on the exact same page!

What was the most awkward part to film? And is it possible to feel awkward filming anything after making videos for Type?

There were no awkward moments because yes… once you’ve filmed Type naked in a shower… nothing will shock you!  Haha!

What are some of your favorite music videos that you’ve been a part of?

I’ve actually had a great experience on pretty much all of the videos I’ve done.  I’d say top 3 that were most fun to shoot would be this one, Grieves “Pack it Up”, and Type “Man Crush (No Homo).”

Whats your favorite music video, and why?

Favorite music video?  Damn!  That’s a tough question…  When I was in like 5th grade my cousin let me borrow a VHS with pretty much all the Beastie Boy’s music videos (at that time) on it.  I damn near wore that tape out!

Do you have any upcoming video projects?

No upcoming video projects set in stone at the moment, but I’m pretty sure something will pop up soon.

Do you know Lil B Dabasedgod?

Lil B is actually a good friend of mine.  We went to the zoo together last summer to see bears, pink flamingo’s, and wrinkled hornbill’s…  It was awesome.

Who would win in a fight, Ryan Lewis or Ron Paul?

Ryan “Ron Cougar Mellon-dance” Lewis would whoop Ron Paul’s wrinkled ass in a game of basketball!  Not sure about a fight…  Haha!  End of interview!

But I have more questions…
