I’m not sure if Sapient sleeps.

His due “Do It Yourself” attitude keeps him busy touring, setting up tours, producing, writing, recording, mixing, mastering, designing album covers, painting canvases for his new Eaters Packs, and now–with his new video for Blissless Yield Remix–directing and editing his own music videos.

He is also a father and a husband.

When starting and/or operating a business, it can often be tough selecting where to invest money and where to invest time–especially when both seem to be running on low. Things generally boil down to the question, “How much money will I make doing something else in the time it will take me to complete this task, and how much will I have to pay someone to do it?”

(If A > B, pay someone else. Else, do it your damn self.)

The amount of control Sapient has on his projects is a gift and a curse.

On one side, he is able to have complete control over his projects and make sure that things turn out exactly the way he wants them too. He also is able to save money–that he needs to support his family–by teaching himself to do the work of others.

But on the other side of the fence, he is investing time into learning new trades that he could be using perfecting the crafts he is best known for, namely emceeing and producing. He also runs the risk of cutting the quality of his products short by spreading himself too thin in the production process.

The usual “Jack of All Trades” is average at a lot of thing. Sapient is the exception to this rule. He is very, very good at just about everything he does.

He has been at the point where people pay him for his skill set in rapping, producing and mixing tracks since his crew Sandpeople released Honest Racket in 2007.

It’s very possible that the same “Do It Yourself” outlook on creating music that has propelled Sapient into a position where he is able to support his family independently, also holds him back from taking himself to the next level.

But sometimes we do things ourselves because we don’t have a choice.

“I got no money in my pockets to invest/but what’s the point of tight rope walking with a net?” – Sapient on Universal Diorama.

Sapient has developed an extremely loyal fan base who are eager to pick up a copy of every project he’s involved with. With his new Eaters project, he is giving people more than just music. He’s developed packs that fans are able to purchase which include t-shirts, sweatshirts, posters, custom art, and customer jewel cases amongst other additions.

Tusks is the first release out of the series. Sapient said Eaters is an instrumental project for the most part, but with some rapping as well.
