The Ready Set is a musical project, started by Jordan Witzigreuter who writes and records his own music. It was fun to talk to a young, successful, down to earth guy who’s passionate about Warped Tour. It was easy to see why he had such a large crowd at the AP stage. His energy was undeniable and he even showed off behind the drums for a while. The Ready Set’s hit “Love Like Woe” made it to number 15 on the billboard charts and is certified platinum as well. Jordan is signed to Decaydance Records owned by Fall Out Boy’s, Pete Wentz. Jordan had a laid back personality and he allowed us to chill on his tour bus with him and some of his crew. (They were rad also. Shout out.) We definitely walked away impressed by his cool demeanor and relatable cat stories.

Is this your first time out on Warped Tour? Has it been a good experience?

Yeah! I went to it when I was like 13 or 14 and it was an eye opening experience. So its’ been a good time.

After you pack up tonight, where are you headed?

I’m going to LA to start working on a new album that’s going to come out next year.

So you don’t have any plans to take a break?

No, hopefully not. But I’m sure I’ll end up with a week or two at home and then we have some fall tour stuff happening.

Do you think it’s harder to transition from real life to tour or tour to real life?

Well this feels more like real life [being on tour]. Going home to me basically means I’m going to just drive myself crazy with boredom. I don’t really like it very much.

Who did you spend the most time with on Warped Tour?

We spent the most time with Every Avenue, and the other bands that share the same stage with us. We’re around them a lot of the time.

What’s the one trend you’ve seen at Warped Tour that you wish you wouldn’t have seen?

There are a lot of stupid shirts I really hate. Basically any giant letter print shirt that says the word “fuck” on it- chances are, I’m not a fan of it. I don’t like that, or the shirts that say “slut” on them.

What’s the hardest thing for you to leave behind when you go out on tour?

My cats. I have three. I wouldn’t take them on tour- they shed too much.

What’s your craziest 2011 Warped Tour story?

We’re like the tamest band I think. This is about as wild as it gets *points to a pink piñata. On the fourth of July we decided we were going to go all out, so we bought a piñata. We haven’t broken it yet because I’ve grown pretty fond of it.

Do you have a name for it?

Funny horse!

What do you do on your spare time?

Some days I watch TV. Usually Animal Planet or Nat Geo Wild. Funny Horse prefers those. I do that and take showers. Oh yeah and I run too. I try to run in the bus lot and do laps. Sometimes I’ll run into town.

Oregon Pop Quiz! What’s the capitol of Oregon?

Everyone probably says Portland but I’m assuming its not. Is it Eugene?

No. Can you name two movies that were filmed here?

The Oregon Trail? I don’t think the Oregon Trail even came to Oregon.
*Girl in background “I thought Oregon Trail was just a video game…”

If you could give Oregon a superlative, what would it be?

Most coniferous. (Referring to the amount of trees)

If you were from Oregon, what would your name be?

I’d change my name to Oregon Mike. People would know me as that guy who’s from Oregon, with the name Oregon. I wouldn’t hang out with anyone else from Oregon though.
