Dan and Eric, in that order

Shwood is giving away glasses for the next three weeks. All you have to do is sign up for their e-mail mailing list. (You can do that at shwoodshop.com after you finish reading this article.)

For those not familiar with Shwood, they are based out of Portland and make handcrafted designer sunglasses out of wood.

This product represents everything cool and beautiful about the Northwest.

Their motto is “Experiment With Nature.”

Something we can all relate to on one level or another.

Shwood got their start at the campus rail jam tour, organized by Dan Genco. Eric Singer is a creative guy and can make a lot of different things out of wood. He was traveling with the tour as a snowboarder. Out of all his wooden ideas, the glasses were by far the most popular and a lot of his colleagues asked for their own pair.

Dan heard about the buzz and the two became partners.

Eric was originally the only person manufacturing the glasses. But after the website went up and a couple of blogs caught wind of the product they suddenly had 250 orders to fill.

“The blind feels the wicked his taste is exquisite…

Talib Kweli recently rocked a pair of Shwood shades in a photo shoot. Dan said that they unfortunately did not play a roll in getting Kweli the glasses, but have reached out to his management since.

They now have a full time staff who manufacture the glasses in an assembly line style. (Shout out Henry Ford.)

From the frame design, to pressing the lenses, to shipping out orders, everything is currently handled in house.

Even with the economy the way it is, the company is working at full speed catching up on back orders.

Shwood glasses is definitely Out Here.

Good luck winning the glasses. And if you do send us a pic with them on for us to post on the site.
