Today I’ve got the debut single from an exciting new talent that I’ll be working with a lot here at Fresh Selects – & his name is Calvin Valentine.
Formerly known as G_Force – Calvin is best known as a producer for the likes of Planet Asia, Strong Arm Steady, illmaculate, and as a member of one of Portland’s livest groups right now – TxE (alongside Tope & Epp).
But on his first single, “All I Want Is You” – Calvin was inspired by DaM-FunK and his good friend devonwho, and decided to flaunt some of his talkbox skills as well.
And on the rest of this concept solo album, smartly entitled Valentine’s Day, which will be available exactly then – Calvin not only holds down the production and talkbox, but the raps and songwriting as well. Be on the lookout for much much more coming from Calvin soon – including a full-length collaborative project between himself & illmaculate, the debut LP from TxE, an EP with Planet Asia, and who knows what else!
