It used to be every few weeks, but it seems now like every few days somebody asks me, “That Aminé guy is from Portland right? Was he involved in the local scene?”
The answer is yes. The reason many DON’T realize he was is because they weren’t paying attention. A huge following at PSU, and a fantastic debut album had me sold on Amine as far back as 2014, as I explained on OPB that one time.
Aminé isn’t always the easiest guy to get a hold of these days, but when a chance to put on for his city appeared, he made sure to keep it P.
Word is that Blossom and The Last Artful, Dodgr – 2 more fantastically eclectic artists repping the Town – will join Aminé in NYC tonight to perform on The Tonight Show w/ Jimmy Fallon. If that’s not town love I don’t know what is.
Congrats to Aminé on the upcoming moment. We’ll all be watching.
