The enigmatic Intisar Abioto and clan announced today that they successfully raised $15,000 via their Indiegogo campaign to fund the continuance of their increasingly popular The Black Portlanders project. But who’s happy with just meeting goals? Not the Abiotos.
WEEEEEEE DID IT! $15000. Thank you!. This was crazy. I didn’t get a wink of sleep last night, but we’re here! Now let’s fund a EXHIBIT. !!!

Donations have poured in over the weekend as Intisar released her long-winded yet compelling Open Letter To Portland & The World and was also featured in a trailer for Whitelandia, an upcoming documentary about institutional racism in Portland that set my Facebook world ablaze.
As of press time, the campaign has raised over $17,000. Naturally, Intisar kept pushing, announcing a stretch goal to launch what she called a “Full-scale Black Portlanders Summer Photo Exhibit”. Donators will be rewarded with a variety of perks ranging from autographed post cards to photo-shoots to dinner parties. Definitely something to check out if you have an interest in under-represented cultural history.
